RDbox Insect Protect
RDbox Insect Protect increases the area covered by the RDbox Duo insect function, for termites, cockroaches, ants and other crawling insects.
It is sold separately, so it can be bought on its own and added later to a Duo that is already installed. What it cannot do is work alone: on its own it does not treat insects, and it adds no rising damp coverage. An RDbox Duo has to be installed and running for it to do anything at all.

What it is aimed at
The insect function is the RDbox Duo function. This extension widens the area it reaches, and covers the same crawling and ground-dwelling insects.
Cockroaches need warmth, moisture and a dark harbourage, and they travel through the fabric of a building rather than fly into it. In a home they are unpleasant. In a hotel or a restaurant one sighting in a dining room is a review, an inspection and a closed kitchen.
Ant trails follow mortar joints, expansion gaps and the junction between a floor slab and a wall. The nest is almost always inside the structure rather than in the room, which is why spraying a trail removes the trail and not the colony.
Subterranean termites travel through soil and masonry to reach timber. The RDbox Duo signal is designed to disturb termites moving through the treated structure, and this extension widens the area that signal reaches. It is not a timber treatment, and anything already established inside timber needs conventional eradication first.
The same signal is aimed at the other crawling and ground-dwelling insects that move through the structure at floor level. Flying insects are outside its scope entirely.
Coverage is limited to termites, cockroaches, ants and other crawling insects. It does not treat flying insects or wood-boring infestations.
How it works
The RDbox Duo produces the insect signal. This unit extends how far that protection reaches through the building.
The Duo is the unit that carries the insect function, and it is sized by the area to be covered. Nothing here works without it.
Ordered on its own, then screwed to a suitable solid wall through two fixing holes inside the area whose coverage is being extended. Nothing is injected, sprayed or applied.
Each connects to a standard socket through its supplied adaptor and is left on. Coverage continues only while both are powered.
The wave trains reach further through the fabric of the building, so the voids, joints and cavities crawling insects move through are covered across a larger area.

Results depend on the building, the species involved and how established the population is. The unit must remain continuously powered.
When it is needed
The RDbox Duo insect function covers up to 500 m². Each RDbox Insect Protect adds a further 500 m², for buildings where one Duo does not reach far enough.
Villas and houses where the ground floor, basement and outbuildings together exceed what one Duo covers for insects.
Kitchens, stores and service areas spread across a footprint larger than a single unit reaches, where chemical treatment is difficult around food.
Larger commercial floorplates, and buildings where separate wings or levels each need to be within range of the insect function.
If the building has both a damp problem and an insect problem, the RDbox Duo treats the two together and is the place to start.

RDbox Insect Protect is installed using two wall fixing holes, in the area whose insect coverage is being extended. It is bought separately and installed alongside an RDbox Duo, which has to be running for it to do anything. No injections or major building work are required, and nothing is sprayed, applied or left inside the property.
